Tourandokht Tamaddon has dedicated the past
twenty years to cultural and charitable activities
in Iran. She has been among the prolific writers
and translators of Iran during this period. Mrs.
Tamaddon has published about 80 books,
covering a broad range of subjects including
Women’s health, Psychology, Oriental
theology and Women’s rights.
Mrs. Tamaddon was born to an affluent family in Tehran, Iran in Feb. of
1940. Her father owned a successful publishing company, the Ferdowsi
Publishing Co. in Tehran. Her mother an avid reader was her inspiration to
writing and loving books. Mrs. Tamaddon attended Tehran University,
where she pursued her undergraduate and graduate degrees in English
Literature and also minored in French. Her thesis was a dedication to works
of Henry James the famed American novelist. She is also fluent in French
and Turkish.

Before the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Mrs. Tamaddon served as a high
ranking member of the diplomatic corp at the Central Treaty Organization.
Following the Iranian revolution, she was bared from leaving Iran for ten
years, during which she started her prolific career as a publisher and
translator.

She was married to her late husband, Mr. Bijan M.E. Maleki Tehrani, for 32
loving years. She has three children, Marjan, Ardavan, and Yasaman.  
Marjan  works and lives in Waterloo (Canada) where she received her Ph.D.
in Psychology at the University of Waterloo. Ardavan (Marjan's twin
brother!) is an entrepreneur based in San Francisco/Bay Area, California,
where he received his doctorate degree from Stanford University. Yasaman
is a student at the University of Toronto, Canada.
